Creating with iron is not so much about muscle as about precision, not so much about power as about skill. When heated, iron becomes a malleable medium that can be shaped, rolled, twisted, and lengthened much like clay in the capable hands of a sculptor.
Although humans have been forging metal into tools and weapons for thousands of years, it was not until the Renaissance and Gothic periods that iron made its elegant debut in gates, fences, grills, and doors. Today, iron railings and accessories are a symbol of taste, wealth, and appreciation of history and art. What formerly was just a trade is now an art form.
